Social Media platforms are contributing to us being less well as individuals and entire societies while also providing meaningful ways for us to connect, explore, share, and experience cultural exchange - so how to we hold the both/and?

Intentional, conscious, collective examination!

Workshop Overview - Understanding the ME in Social Media
You are invited to immerse yourself in an experiential, educational and creative playshop focused on increasing your understanding and conscious awareness of digital relating.

This playshop is for those who feel compelled to examine their relationship with Social Media and other online communication pathways. You will be provided with a spiral experience that empowers you to gently and intentionally explore the not-so-subtle impacts of digital relating on your wellbeing, such as:
  • physiological and psychological responses to 'scrolling'
  • 'siloed vulnerability' and vulnerability hangover
  • polarization and in-group/out-group traps
  • the personal authenticity crisis
  • AI counterfeit substance
  • outrage or 'ragebait' and it's powerful impact on the limbic brain
  • comparison spirals and our tendency toward negative self reflection
  • the fear of missing out in the age of community breakdown and individual isolation
  • the long-term brain impacts of normalized distraction (notifications, tags, mentions, comments)

In understanding and naming some of these common experiences, you will have the chance to come to terms with our unconscious, unboundaried and potentially unsafe tacit agreements with Social Media/digital relating.

During our time together, you will be provided educational materials sourced from cutting edge neuroscience and sociology (as well as a little ancient wisdom!). We will work as a group to collaboratively identify and name both the value and negative impacts of Social Media (paradox walking), move through thoughtful and cathartic conscious inquiry in dyads and small groups, and engage in a creative values-mapping exercise utilizing an Intentional Creativity® approach.

By the completion of this daylong playshop, you will have accessed key insights into your Social Media and digital relating habits. You will be well-resourced with practical steps you can take to go forward in more conscious and sovereign ways of connecting and communicating online!
