to simply allow

I find myself
In love
with Autumn
dark mornings
brightened
by street light
reflected in
the outpouring.
Outside the sky
touches my lips
an inescapable
union
forms between us
as the exposure
increases
in intensity.
I contemplate
these portraits
of surrender
listen to
the tender
soliloquy
of a tree
sharing its
innermost thoughts
with me
“I shall let myself
be undone.”
There is no
resistance here
and this
is the quality
I envy.
I wish
this Autumn tree,
would wrap
its branches
around and
around
and around me
until
I am brave enough
to simply
allow.
